Religion takes a big part of most of our lives since we are children. Here in El Paso we can find mostly Christian churches due to the fact that we are a border city. For a Hispanic it is very common to know the story of the bible because that is what our grandparents and parents believe but, now a day there has been more and more open minded people that believe in different things. Some people may believe in science and how everything has a reason to be, but others may believe that we evolve from monkeys.
Here in this community we find different types of churches most of them being Christian churches. Focusing on Christians because is our majority we can tell that some of them become too engage with their religion that stop having relations with other people that don’t share the same beliefs, sometimes even with family members. That’s not the point of Christianity at all; they think they are following the commandments of the bible but in reality they are following the made up rules of the church. This people have a religious addiction that can affect their lives and not only that, people are losing the whole point of Christianity.
Christianity is a relationship with God and an addicted person may think that they know God but they are only huge fans of the religion itself. For instance, a fan may know everything about a superstar but they have never really met with the superstar in person never in their life. The point of Christianity is to truly have a relationship with God, meaning to have conversations with him (prayers) and to follow his word (bible) not only what the church tells their community to do.
These churches in El Paso try to help people that are in seek of the word of God by giving them their made up rules when in reality churches are made up of rich people and their only purpose is to become even richer. They use the word of God as a business because they know that people now days are in desperate need of feeling safe and better. Since we live just a side of one of the most dangerous cities in the whole world, Cd. Juarez, people need to have or grow their faith that nothing horrifying is going to happen to them or their families.
Addicted Christians misunderstood the point of having a relationship with God they think that by knowing the bible very well and following the churches’ rules they will have an open gate to heaven; but realistically they need to have an open relationship with God. These people are in great danger of being destroyed by a pointless believe of being right and not having any type of relationship with God at all. When someone experiences the power of God it may change their lives forever and may not even notice that all they needed was to really talk to God from the heart not just their minds. God knows when a person really means forgiveness or when they really want God to be part of their lives.
