In this article the author explains the symptoms of an addiction where he clearly states that “addictive substances alter your mood” which in religion this is very common. It also gives us a cycle that an addictive person might go through when being in an addiction. At the end of the article he explains how a good thing is being a religious person but how it is extremely dangerous to be addictive to it.

            In this book the authors explain how faith can become like a toxic because of the way it is threaded. It also has the attitude that the people with his kind of problem take over their lives when being addictive to religion. The authors describe how this people act toward religion and explain why this way of thinking and acting is wrong according to God. In the book you can also find the characteristics of a healthy relationship with God not being a slave of the religion.

            The author describes his life when he used to act as an addict to religion and writes about what he had experience during that time on his life. In the article he states “I was considered a good soldier, loyal and obedient through and through and very adept at rule-keeping...until the day came that I really needed Jesus and The Church and found I was left holding a bag full of nothing but powerless, meaningless, deceptive religion.”  He realized that he was living a lie and changed his ways to a better human by having a one-on-one relationship with God instead of going for religion that was destroying his life.

            In this article the author uses various sources to make the article effective. It has nationwide statistics which shows the importance of religion to an average American. It also points out that “29% of psychologists agreed that religious issues are important in the treatment of all or many of their clients (Bergin and Jensen, 1990, p. 3). Psychotherapy can sometimes be effective in treating religious problems.” The article talks about how it is a good thing to be religious because of their tendency to be responsible going to church and being social with other church members.
